slim waistI would like to think that it is possible to lose weight without dieting, but that depends on what you consider a diet to be. In the traditional sense, a diet is a reduction in calories so that your body burns calories from stored fat in order to produce the energy necessary to sustain life. In theory, you can lose weight without dieting if you find a way to burn more calories than you are taking in. Unfortunately, for most of us, this is where the problem begins.

After a rigorous exercise session we are just so very hungry. That is nature’s way of telling us we just burned more calories than we consumed. But we just don’t seem to get it and sit down to a “treat” for being so good during our workout.

If you look at dieting in a different way then, yes, it is possible to lose weight without starving yourself. The key to that is to eat healthier, more nutritious foods that are lower in fat and carbohydrates. This might sound confusing at first, but if you want to lose weight you can still eat a lot of food.

You just need to eat foods that have a low caloric content and are rich in nutrients. Simply put, the key to losing weight without dieting is to find a way to burn more calories.

That brings us to another point – metabolism. Some people just have sluggish metabolisms that don’t burn calories efficiently. There are many products on the market, both OTC and prescription, that are manufactured to increase the body’s metabolic rate. In the long run, it doesn’t really matter HOW you do it. It does matter that you burn more than you eat. The end result is the same. You can lose weight without dieting.
