The traditional advice on this topic is to eat less and exercise more, and considering the name of this site is WorkoutWell you’d probably expect to find plenty of advice on exercise here, but I’m going to take a different route here and give you an alternative method for losing weight quickly since you’ve probably sick of hearing the same stuff repeated over and over.
The methods that follow on this page will help you detox your body which tends to lead to far more rapid weight loss than the standard, vanilla weight loss advice.

Understanding Toxicity
I actually got to see this in my mother first hand. She had been having problems with chronic headaches and migraines, and no doctors were ever able to make them go away. She saw specialists all over the country to no avail. And at her peak she was on over 40 different prescriptions. She was taking pills to help manage the side effects she was getting from other pills.
Putting that many drugs into your body is not good for it, and her body responded with its own defense mechanism – substantial weight gain (about 40 lbs).
Allow me to explain.
One way your body reacts to a lot of toxins in the body is to surround them with fat molecules and to store them. It how the body deals with more toxins than it can handle. (If it didn’t, you’d be more likely to die.)
So all that fat in the body really doesn’t have anything to do with you eating too much food or not exercising enough. It’s your body’s way of saving itself.
So just taking a standard approach to weight loss where you try to eat less and exercise more isn’t the most effective way to lose that stubborn weight.
You’ll experience faster results (and I’m going to assume that’s why you’re here – to lose weight fast) if you focus on a detox diet, not just a weight loss the diet. If you detox, trust me, the weight will take care of itself.

I’m going to give you two you can try, and yes, both may seem a little extreme, but they’re really effective and work extremely fast.
Juice Fasting
I know that when some people see the world fasting they immediately think anorexia. That’s not what I’m talking about here. First of all, juice fasting is a short term program designed to help you see results quickly.
Also, most people who embark on a juice fast do it for health reasons, not just weight loss purposes. However, I can tell you the last one of these I did saw me lose 10 pounds over the course of 5 days. But the thing to remember is that juice fasting is something healthy to do for your body – i.e. it’s good for you! I would, however, recommend doctor’s supervision if you plan on doing one of these for more than 14 days.
What you’ll need
A juice fast requires that you consume only freshly prepared juice. That means non-pasteurized juice. So anything you buy in the store isn’t going to cut it. You’re going to have to make your own.
If you like making freshly squeezed orange juice, you’re in luck, you can drink all you like. You can get a basic citrus juicer for $5 on Amazon.com, but if you want something that requires a little less effort to operate, here’s a really cool automatic citrus juicer from Breville.
Of course, there’s more to life than just citrus, and for those juices, you’ll want to a high quality juicer. I’m a fan of centrifugal juicers like the Breville Juice fountain, since they’re both reasonably priced and get a high juice yield.
If the price of a juicer is a bit beyond your price range right now, check out local garage sales, you’ll find them there once in a while and at great prices.
And once you’ve got the gear, we can move onto what you’ll be eating… err… drinking!
What you’ll eat
Technically, you won’t eat anything. You’ll be on a 100% liquid diet.
However, that doesn’t mean there are no calories. In fact, you’ll likely get someone in the neighborhood of 600-800 calories a day. Not a lot by any stretch of the imagination, but there is a lot of nutrition packed into these calories, and you’ll be back to eating a more sensible 2000 calorie a day diet soon enough.
You can make any kind of juice you like from fresh fruits and vegetables. Remember, that’s the key to this program – fresh fruits and vegetables. Shop in the produce aisle of your local supermarket and nowhere else.
Canned, frozen, and pasteurized foods are all out.
So let me give you some suggestions on what to make yourself to drink:
Fresh orange juice or fresh grapefruit juice (you can sweeten with a little grade b maple syrup or agave nectar)
Lemonade (juice two lemons, add in 3 oz of grade b maple syrup, mix it up – this is delicious)
Green Lemonade
This drink is a nutritional powerhouse, and a great energy drink.
Mixing apples and carrots together also make for a tasty juice.
Wheatgrass Juice
I’ll be honest, this stuff doesn’t taste all that great and can be a pain in the butt to juice, but it can add an extra punch to the cleansing power of this program. If you can’t handle the taste, try mixing it with fresh lemon juice and water, and then slam the mixture. (Relive your college party days under the beer bong and chug, chug, chug!)
Pineapple Juice
Fresh pineapple juice is absolutely delicious. It also mixes wonderfully with other kinds of citrus juices.
Watermelon and mint
This is a cool and refreshing juice. Run some watermelon through your juicer and a few mint leaves.
That should give you enough variety to get you through your first juice fast. If you’re feeling hungry, just drink some juice or drink water. You can have as much as you want as long it’s fresh.
Getting Past Day 2
From past experience, I can tell you that the first day usually isn’t too terribly difficult. It’s day 2 where your body really lets you know it’s not too happy about this whole “not eating” thing. You very likely will feel light headed, and your ability to focus will be diminished. You may also find yourself quite moody.
However, day 2 is by far the hardest day of any fasting program. By day 3 your body will start to adjust and it will be relatively easy to maintain for the duration of your fast. (I recommend no more than 5 days if this is your first juice fast).

100% Raw Food Vegan Diet
If you’re not quite ready to give up food altogether for a few days, this diet can be a great alternative, and many people who follow this diet report not only weight loss, but healthy, glowing skin, better eyesight, improved endurance, and substantially more energy.
This one is lifestyle for some people, and can be followed as a long term program, not just a quick way to lose weight.
The basics of a raw food diet are really quite simple. Eat raw fruits and vegetables. If it’s raw (skip raw meat and raw dairy) you can eat it. If it’s cooked or processed, you don’t.
Simple enough, right?
Raw Nuts
Many people who start on a raw food diet use raw nuts in their diet, and they’re certainly acceptable, but if you’re looking for maximum weight loss in the shortest amount of time, stick only to fresh fruits and vegetables and skip the nuts at first.

Colon Cleansing
This can be another way to help you get rid of excess weight quickly. While you’ll get the best results if you do a colon cleanse in conjunction with a juice fast or a raw food diet, you can still get acceptable results doing a colon cleanse alone.
However, the trick to make sure you follow a good cleansing program and not a program thrown together by unethical companies looking to make a quick buck.
As someone who has tried multiple products to help with colon cleansing, I can tell you that the majority of the products on the market are crap (pun intended)! They either don’t work at all or require you to stay in close proximity to the bathroom at all times.
I’ve actually only found one that I really like which is effective, yet gentle, and lets you live your life without having to stay near the bathroom.
